This week's challenge activity is to design a warehouse facility. The aim is to make an efficient storage facility: neither too large nor too small, with good use of the space. A safe workplace with easy putaway and picking. There is no 'right answer' but you should apply the principles covered in th guided practice session. The above image illustrates the original version of the warehouse design game. Your challenge will be performed digitally, in the same way. Task - Download the PowerPoint presentation , and edit it to move elements around in order to meet the guidelines on effective warehouse organisation. - Share your warehouse configuration with your peers via the forum and briefly explain your rationale for your decisions. You may wish to consider the following questions: 1. Have you managed to achieve fast and easy putaway and picking? 2. Is your warehouse a safe working environment? 3. Is each item in a 'good place', considering its characteristics? 4. Have you maximised use of volume? We will look at the designs together in the week's webinar but you are welcome to comment on the proposals of your peers before then. !
