Throughout history, the correctional system has had many changes as not everything was equal for just anyone. Then again, it would be hard to say that centuries later, the correctional system is at its highest perfect state. Populations such as juveniles, women, and people of color are some of those who were not considered very much when going through the correctional system. As the world continues to change, the criminal justice system generally attempts to do the same. With equal rights movements and events such as tough on crime era, law makers establish new methods for more of the population. If we analyze statistical data on the number of women that were in a correctional facility as an inmate in the 1980s through current time, some information found may appear shocking. The number of women that have started to commit crimes or are now receiving much more equal sentences, the incarceration rate has spiked by over one hundred percent. The issue they would face would simply be not believing that women would be capable of committing such crimes. This has changed about halfway as women are being charged much more now than they were before, but some may express that some are still charged softly, also based on their situation. Juveniles started off by being offered rehabilitative options as punishment as who would like to see a teenager being punished. Then again, it would not have been fair for just any juvenile to commit a crime and get away with it right
