Throughout my prior coursework in this program, I have gained valuable insights into the complexities of higher education administration, particularly in areas such as student retention, technology integration, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. One emerging issue that has captured my interest is the challenge of improving student engagement and success in hybrid learning environments a modality that has become increasingly prevalent due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing shifts in educational delivery. Reflecting on my own institution, I have observed that while hybrid courses offer flexibility, many students struggle with consistent participation and access to resources, which negatively impacts their academic performance and satisfaction. Faculty members also face difficulties in effectively managing and delivering content that meets diverse learner needs across both in person and online formats. Given these observations, I propose to focus my Capstone Project on addressing the practical problem of enhancing student engagement and success in hybrid courses at my institution. The primary stakeholders for this project will include students, faculty, academic advisors, and instructional designers. Despite the growing adoption of hybrid learning models in higher education, students at Walden University experience inconsistent engagement and academic challenges due to insufficient support structures and ineffective instructional strategies tailored to hybrid environments. This project aims to identify barriers to student engagement and develop actionable recommendations to improve hybrid course design and delivery, thereby enhancing student success and satisfaction. I plan to utilize project management principles outlined in The Project Manager's Partner: The Step-by-Step Guide to Project Management (2nd ed.) by D. S. Crawford (2019) to structure this initiative effectively. The guide's emphasis on stakeholder analysis, risk management, and iterative planning will be instrumental in ensuring the project's success.
