Throughout this course, you will be working on a larger project, a Diversity Research Project, where you will investigate diversity within an organization of your choice. The work on the project is divided into 3 parts. The purpose of the project is to:

• Choose an organization that made an effort to improve its diversity and inclusion within their workforce. This should be a rather large organization, e.g., Google, GM, IBM, and one in which the diversity effort has been studied. Choosing an organization of this nature will help you find references that effectively describe the issue and intervention that was made.
• Identify the diversity issue within the organization and the solution the organization chose. Identify the leaders of this change and how they approached the issue and solution.
• Describe the solution and its impact on the diversity within that organization. Consider problems encountered and adjustments that were made.
• Make recommendation for future efforts to solidify the change and continue the forward progress. Or, if applicable, make recommendation on how to improve the effectiveness of current diversity efforts.

Three Parts of the Project

Part 1 (Diversity Research Project Proposal)

This part is due in this module, Module 3.

In this part, you will choose the organization that you will research. It is recommended that you choose a large organization, e.g., one in the Fortune 500 (2017), as diversity efforts in these types of organizations are often widely reported and researched so references and information should be readily available in the ESC Library. It is NOT recommended that you choose the organization for which you currently work or one for which you have worked in the past. Why? These situations are often complex and involve many layers of the organization and information that is not always shared throughout the organization. Consequently, you may not have the information you need to effectively identify and analyze the diversity issue and solution. You may also find that credible references are difficult to find for these situations. You may wish to review ESC Library FAQ entry on how to research diversity in a Fortune 500 company.

Before the end of Module 3, write your Diversity Project Research Proposal. This proposal should include:

• The organization you have chosen and the reasons you chose this organization.
• Background on the organization and the diversity issue it faced
• Summary of any diversity interventions that have occurred

The Proposal should be a 1-2 pages long, double-spaced paper. The paper should be in Word and saved in a Word doc or RFT format. It should reference the course materials and any additional material used in your research. Apply APA citation style for your sources.
