To start with, quitting allows mothers to look after their mental and physical health by having more free time for themselves. A working mother is constantly under pressure to  look after her house and fulfill her work obligations. For example, her ordinary day starts with getting the kids ready for school, going to work, cooking for lunch, taking care of the kids’ studies after school, and finally preparing dinner before putting the kids to sleep. Even if her husband helps and supports her, she will be exhausted at the end of the day. According to The Prosperity Project survey in Canada, mothers are more likely to go through high levels of stress about having to divide their attention between job and kids (2020). By being home with the kids, the woman is given the chance to do sports, enjoy her hobby, relax, and take care of her body. “For the first time in over ten years, I feel that I have the day for myself when I wake up,” says Salwa. Therefore, a woman will have the energy and enthusiasm to take care of her household and herself.
