STUDY CASE: Namibia

Existing Farm management information systems include Akkerweb, FarmPAD, Farmplan, Agrivi and Agworld. However, these systems seem not to address the above stated problems, entirely. Akkerweb does not attend to farm records, costs and expenditure accounting, tractor management, crop management, staff timesheets, document management (Van et al., 2018). Similarly, FarmPAD also presents some weakness, it does not support season work planning and does not allow experts consultations remotely (Saiz-Rubio & Rovira-Ms, 2020). Another existing system is Farmplan, which has the limitation of not supporting spatial representation of grazing fields (Saiz-Rubio & Rovira-Ms, 2020). Moreover, Agrivi does not provide weather data to farmers (Agrivi, 2021; Captura, 2021), and Agworld does not alert farmers of pest and diseases (Agworld, 2021).
