Introduction (200 - 250 words) The introductory part acts as a foundation of the essay. It informs how strong or weak your essay will be. Given the importance of the introduction, it's always advisable to spend some time here, before proceeding to the next part. Make sure your introduction is captivating and creative. The reader should have a clear picture from your introduction of what your essay is all about by just going through your introduction. Therefore, make sure to keep your introduction simple, clear and not too wordy. Your introduction can include: What is this topic about? Why is this important to IHRM? Give a brief background DO NOT JUST ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS but integrate them into your introduction. Body The body is the "meat" of your essay. The body is wordier as compared to the introduction. These paragraphs should build up on each other, to ensure your essay flows from beginning to the end. Try using 3 paragraphs for clarity. Guideline and Suggestions: Discuss in greater detail the background information from your introduction Give examples, to illustrate a point you made, and explain why it is an example Present (DO NOT LIST) your research points/findings/ideas and discuss these based on IHRM. E.g. impact/impact on who, why how? Present/discuss challenges, barriers, advantages, disadvantages DO NOT JUST ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS but integrate them into your body. Conclusion (2 paragraphs/approx 20 sentences) It is important to restate the given in the introduction and to summarize your main points. The conclusion should be captivating enough to ensure the readers are left with something to think about. Clearly indicate that this is the last part of your essay. Your conclusion should not be so flat that readers forget it the moment they're done reading it. Ensure that you arouse their interest during the conclusion. References Minimum 5 references (use journals and check the library) Suggest using business trade magazines such as Harvard Business Review, The Economist, International HRM, etc.
