uantitative data is numerical and countable, focusing on quantity while qualitative data is descriptive and focuses on understanding, expressed by words, opinions, and observations. Quantitative data is generally more objective and easier to analyze because it is numerical data, however the disadvantage is you must make sure the data collected is accurate. Qualitative data can be more subjective and challenging to interpret. It can help people understand the numbers and form opinions about "why" the data is that way and draw conclusions to better understand it. In my professional life, I prepare court files and attend weekly hearings. We use an Excel spreadsheet to track our data. The numerical data shows how many people we contacted, how many of them appeared in court, and what the outcome of the hearing was. I need to make sure I update my stat sheet correctly, so it represents actual information, which represents the quantitative data. My supervisor reports out each month the data to the manager. It is up to management to use the qualitative data to look for trends or reasons as to why certain outcomes happened. They can look at our contacts and see if those made a difference in court
