Unit $7$ Activity: Final Project Preparation

In this course, you learned about various employment laws and saw how those laws affected the workplace. This was done primarily through the lens of court cases. However, for this learning to be of use, you needed to know how to read and understand these court cases and, more importantly, how to figure out what each means for the practice of HR$.$

Throughout the Term, you had numerous additional learning moments that allowed you to use the information gathered from each case effectively. These learning moments included:

Using self$-$evaluation as a method to quality check your work

Using self$-$reflection as an approach to identify improvement opportunities

An introduction to growth mindset vs fixed mindset

Following a structured assessment and analytical methodology

Use brainstorming to identify relevant issues

The importance of focus when dealing with broad ideas and concepts

Options for structuring the presentation of your ideas

Post a self$-$reflection in which you share $1)$ how one or more of the techniques listed above can be of use as you prepare your final project and $2)$ reflect on how one or more of these techniques can help you go beyond the obvious as you prepare your final project.

Keep in mind, when we look at the implications of each case for the practice of HR$,$ we care about much more than the need for policies, knowledge of the law, and training. Final project learning and recommendations must go well beyond those three $($obvious$)$ starting points.
