until 8:00am. Sarah is serving children breakfast while Grace interacts with the children who have finished breakfast and greets those who are arriving for the day. One child is distressed at drop off. The mother mentions to Grace that she is out of sorts because her and the child's father are going through a separation. She also mentions that they are fighting custody arrangements and she has a court order stating that the father cannot pick up the child. Grace and the parent discuss this for a few minutes before the parent leaves. The child is still distressed and Grace comforts her attempting to redirect her attention by taking her outside for a few minutes. While Grace is outside a child asks Sarah to get some blocks out of the adjoining storeroom. Sarah asks one of the older children (5 years old) to help the younger children by pouring their cereal and milk while she quickly gets the blocks out. The blocks that the child wants are on the top shelf and Sarah cannot reach. She gets a child size chair from the room to stand on in order to get the blocks down. She sets up the blocks for the children and returns to the breakfast table and Grace returns inside with the child who is no longer distressed.
