URSING PEER INTERVIEWS ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
explore delegation policies as listed on the State Board of Nursing
website for the state in which you hold your nursing license. You will also explore delegation
policies that are in place in your healthcare institution. Finally, you will discuss with your
colleagues about delegation and evaluate if delegation is a widely understood and used practice.
Your critical thinking will then be developed as you plan how to educate on the topic of
delegation or assess how education on this topic is already done in your workplace. This
assignment is aimed to help you understand the importance of delegation in all areas of nursing
practice.

Look up information about your state's florida policies on delegation as well of those of your healthcare
institution. If your institution does not have specific delegation policies, discuss if and how
delegation is handled. After you research delegation at the state and institutional level, interview
3 nursing peers in your workplace. Determine if your nursing peers need additional education
related to delegation. Finally, discuss how nurses are educated on delegation in your workplace,
or discuss a plan to incorporate delegation education if such a plan does not already exist. If your
State Board of Nursing and/or employing institution does not address delegation, use delegation,
or have a delegation plan in place, you will do the following:
 Discuss the five rights of delegation.
 Discuss how you think delegation would be handled if not currently used in your current
practice setting.
 If a plan does not exist to currently educate nurses on delegation, explain how this could
be handled at your institution (when and how often).
 If a plan exists, discuss how nurses are currnently educated on delegation
