Mothusi, the security officer at the company report for work at 1600 hours and mandated to ensure that all offices are secure and locked by 1715 hours every day. Mothusi was aware that Tumelo sometimes leaves late. Tumelo had on several occasions informed Mothusi not to lock Tumelo's office door of the main entrance door without making sure that Tumelo is not in his office. On the material day Mothusi locked Tumelo's office door before Tumelo left the premises without verifying whether Tumelo was there or not. He further locked the main entrance door to the premises. After locking all the doors Mothusi went to the corner of the premises and slept for thirty minutes. Mothusi heard some shouts coming from Tumelo's office. That shouting sound was being made by Tumelo who needed assistance from Mothusi with regard to the opening of the office door for him.
