. Republic v Chief Fire Officer; ex parte Azagba [1980] GLR 213, an assistant divisional officer appeared before a disciplinary tribunal constituted under the Fir Service Regulations to answer charges of misconduct. Upon the decision of the Chief Fire Officer, he was dismissed. He applied for a copy of the record of proceedings for the purpose of appealing against the decision of the tribunal. The Chief Fire Officer refused the request on the ground that the Regulations only obliged him to notify the decision of the tribunal to him. He instituted an action for inter alia, an order of mandamus to issue to compel the Chief Fire Officer to furnish him with copies of the record of proceedings. Granting the application, it was held that the assistant divisional officer was entitled to a copy of the proceedings. The Chief Fire Officer was under a duty to comply with the demand and therefore the order of mandamus would lie, directing the Chief Fire Officer to comply with furnishing the applicant with the record of proceedings
