Use the structure of an introduction using an example topic to shape the structure of my introduction, using my topic still and the three prompt questions. Example structure with example topic part 1: Global sea level is rising and if this trend continues over eight million people in densely populated and rapidly expanding coastal lowland settlements of the Contiguous United States may be affected. (Crowell, et al., 2010; McGranahan, et al., 2007). Global Sea Level Rise (SLR) is a result of the change in volume of water in oceans driven by increased ocean temperatures and the melting and increased discharge of water currently stored on land in the form of ice sheets and glaciers (Figure 1) (Church & White, 2011; Parris, et al., 2012). Increases in ocean temperatures and glacial melting are direct results of a changing climate caused largely through anthropogenic influences such as the burning of fossil fuels and removal of rainforests (Union of Concerned Scientists , 2013). As the sea rises and the ocean inundates the land issues such as erosion, flooding, salinification of soil, aquifer contamination and ecosystem loss for flora and fauna intensify (Day & Templet, 1990). Furthermore, the increased risk of floods and amplified flooding caused by major storm events and hurricanes poses significant threats to infrastructure, energy, commerce, transport and health services (McGranahan, et al., 2007; Parris, et al., 2012)
