Dimension Notes Rating

Challenge Challenge as described in this module is the most important dimension. Without the motivation and commitment from the members involved, the innovation or goal will not be reached. $3$

Dynamism and Liveliness I rate this a $2$ based on the topics we are covering, adding IoT. Situations may come up during the process, but it is not something that would occur often. However, members should always be ready for an event that may introduce something new to an existing plan. $2$

Playfulness and Humor I rated this a $3$ as it relates to challenge. Often, a relaxed atmosphere will allow members to be more open and involved. Of course, there must be a limit to the jokes and laughter, but it does bring a positive and motivating environment that makes members feel comfortable. $3$

Freedom Freedom would truly be based on your position. The scenario we are discussing in this course does not allow for much freedom because it is such a combined or team effort that involves various departments and team members. $1$

Risk Taking Every innovation has its risks, regardless of how cautious or detail is put into it$.$ The uncertain is what normally brings about change or improvements. $3$

Idea Time Sometimes an idea does not present itself until the process has already begun. As the pieces come together that will eventually combine as the final product, new ideas can be the ultimate game changer for the organization. This relates to keeping an open mind and can happen in a positive environment. $3$

Idea Support Supporting a team members idea or receiving support for your own idea is part of taking risks and challenge. When an idea is presented, ask questions to better understand why and what value it adds. This shows that you are supportive and have interest in the possibility of the idea. $3$

Trust and Openness A team is required to work together. To be successful, there must be trust that each member brings value to the team and utilize their experience to ensure success. $3$

Debate Everyone is not going to agree or like certain stages or situations during a team project. However, when the point that someone is trying to make or the reason for not agreeing has a valid purpose, there should always be room for debate to analyse the pros and cons that will eventually lead to a compromise. $2$

Conflict $($negatively correlated$)$ In a professional environment that shows each team member a mutual respect, conflict or high tension can be avoided. If a situation results to a level of hate or animosity that cannot be controlled in the office environment, it could sabotage the entire process. This would be a time to involve upper management and$/$or make changes to the members of the team. $1$

Summary: Each of these dimensions are possible in teamwork. This is why it is important to maintain a positive environment that allows each member to be vocal and involved without the fear of judgement. The hardest part is drawing the line between each. There will always be challenges, risks, and new ideas during each stage of an innovation. Keeping an open mind, being supportive, and having trust will lead to a more successful outcome.
