heat to a hot water loop). The objective is to size the compressors and rate of hot water flow produced
at about 160 F . The return hot water is at 100 F . The heat pump also uses R134A as refrigerant. Take the
approach temperature ( DeltaT between the exiting hot and cold flows) of the heat exchangers to be 15 F .
Take the compressor efficiencies to be 90%. Determine:
A - R134A flow rates in both systems.
B - Power of the compressors
C - Flow rate of the hot water produced
D - Coefficients of performance of the chiller and heat pump

F - If the amount of water produced at the desired temperature is not sufficient, what may be the
