USING ANSYS

Project 1. ANSYS CFX and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm [100 points] Start from the ANSYS Workbench framework for AAA in the BOX folder. Perform simulations for all four (4) aneurysm geometries provided. They span the following geometrical space. (a) Explain the boundary condition for the inflow and calculate the Reynolds number. Is this flow laminar or turbulent? Why? (b) For all four cases (A, B, C, D), provide the contours for velocity in the lumen, pressure in the lumen, oxygen concentration in the wall and oxygen concentration in the thrombus, as well as streamlines in the lumen ( 20 plots). Contours need to be plotted on a XY plane that cuts the domain in half in the axial direction. (c) Using the plots made in previous step, compare the oxygen concentration within the ILT between four cases. Explain how increasing bulge diameter (BD) and ILT thickness affect concentrations within the ILT tissue? How about the oxygen within arterial wall tissue? (d) For case A, provide the convergence plot and use that to explain if your solution is converged. (e) Some patients with anemia have low hematocrits, and therefore reduced blood viscosities. Repeat the simulations of case A when the blood viscosity is reduced by 20% due to anemia. Plot blood velocity on a line that passes through the center of the AAA model and compare it with the test case performed with normal blood viscosity
