Problem $1$:

Consider two Arabic words that are different only in the considered counterpart phonemes as

given in the list below $($e$.$g$.,$ select one pair from the list$).$ Record the pairs of words and

differentiate between them depending on the discussion in our classes and Chapter $6$ of Prof.

Mansour Alghamdi's book. Try to see the information stated in that reference and make

comments.

Use a sampling rate equal to or less than $16$ KHz with $16$ bits$/$sample$.$ Also, accomplish the

following:

Plot the waveforms $($in two pairs and with the same plot$)$ appropriately, similar to Fig.

$1\mathrm{.}1$ of page $2$ of your primary textbook.

Segment your waveform as in Fig. $1\mathrm{.}1$ by showing phoneme$/$word boundaries.

Label the phonemes similar to Fig. $1\mathrm{.}1.$ Use phoneme symbols from our material from

the Arabic part in the class notes.

You can use MATLAB, PRAAT, WaveSurver, or any other appropriate software to help you.
