Using SPSS, regression analysis will be performed to compare the relationship between years on the job and the total legitimacy score. Further regression analysis will be performed between years on the job and each of the four principles of procedural justice. To determine the validity of the survey tool within this population, correlation analysis will be performed between 6 each of the four items for each of the principles in a manner consistent with previous studies (Dai, 2021). Factorial ANOVA will be used to attempt to identify any interaction between years on the job, rank, and demographics, and how those interactions may affect views of legitimacy. Lastly, police views of legitimacy from this sample will be compared to those found in previous studies on police views of their own legitimacy to determine reliability (Dai, 2021; Privetera, 2020). Outside of the general limitations of survey tools (i.e., validity and reliability) and the sampling method (i.e., non-random, participation bias), perhaps the most important shortfall to note about this survey is that it is cross-sectional. There will be no way to account for generational differences in the population. While this study should offer insight into the relationship between years on the job and views of legitimacy, it will not account for the generational differences of the officers. It could be that officers who served during 9/11 have differing views due to the changes to the job (and in society in general) that po
