Critique the internal, construct, and external validity:

Internal validity: Can they make cause and effect statements? That is, was it an experimental (random assignment to groups, comparison, and manipulation) or a correlational design?
External validity: Who were the subjects and how were they selected? What, if anything, might be distinctive about them that would limit generalizability? What was the drop-out rate and might it have affected the group's composition? What evidence is given that the results should apply to other groups of participants?

External (cont). What was the research setting? Would the results generalize to different settings? Can you pinpoint a difference between the research setting and a real-life settingand give a specific reason why this difference would prevent the results from applying to real life?
Construct Validity Questions about variables that were measured in the study: What evidence is given that the measures were reliable?
What evidence did they provide for the validity (accuracy) of their measures?
In your estimation, do you think the measures they used were good ones?
How might the researchers have biased the study's results? What "blind" or "double blind" techniques were used, if any?
