Vera is a certified yoga instructor. She supervises small group classes and private sessions at home. Currently she has about 15 students. Based on the recent interview with her, we learnt that she does not want to expand her business much. She would just want to keep her student numbers within in 10~15 range. She offers two different types of small group classes: a 1-hr deep stretch class (Wed/Sun evenings 7:30-8:30pm) and a 1.5-hr Power Flow class (every Sat 9-10:30am).

Here is her pricing scheme:

drop-in: $25/class hour

package $200/10 classe hours (Expires after 90 days )

Note she counts the class hours, not the classes. That is, Saturday classes is considered 1.5 hours. That means every two Saturday classes will count as 3 class hours.

In addition, she also offers a referral program. If you refer anyone who purchases a 10-class package, you will get one class hour for FREE.

After she started the sessions, most of the students ended up choosing to buy packages instead of simply drop-in. She starts feeling the need to keep track of students attendance to know how many remaining class hours in the package a student has. She hopes to design a simple Excel sheet to help her. Particularly, she wants the following things:

First, she hopes the excel sheet can track a students package purchases, how many class hours (including the free class hour earned from the referral program) been used, and how many left.

She also wants to keep track of the date of purchase, and date of expiration. And hope it will help remind the students who hasnt come regularly to improve attendance to receive better result from Yoga practice.

The system can also remind her and/or the students whose package is about to be renewed ( 2 classes left)

She hopes that the system can be easy to use, e.g. easy to enter the class attendance, easy to add new students, easy to add/update packages, and easy to add free classes.

For the ease of use, she hopes the system is simple enough. Preferably the system should have fewer worksheets (views), preferably in one view instead of having to hop around to obtain the information.

You may need to use the following Excel functions/features:

Insert functions, such as =sum(), =sumif(), today(),

Conditional formatting

Split window and freeze pane

You may use much more functions than the above listed. As fancy as you can ever get. I am excited to learn more myself. :D
