OUTLINE FOR STATISTICS PROJECT Part 1 This is your chance to apply Statistics in your everyday life, and to demonstrate your understanding of the concepts we've covered thus far in the semester (Chapters 1 - 3). Work with one to two other people (Group size must be 1 - 3 people) to collect data and apply what you've learned. Create a one - two page summary that addresses all the following: A. Choose a topic: What is your topic? WHY did you decide on your topic? What questions do you want to answer? Is there a relationship that you expect to find? B. Collect data for a variety of questions. Make sure you have some data that is quantitative AND some that is categorical, at least two variables of each type. C. Explain the method(s) used to obtain your sample data. What is your population? What type of sampling did you use? Is your sample random? If not, why not? D. Apply descriptive statistics: i. Quantitative Data: For at least two quantitative variables: 1. Find measures of center and variation. You must find at least two of each type of measure. Label your statistics appropriately. 2. Create a statistical graph. Graph may be a histogram, stemplot, boxplot, scatterplot, etc. ii. Categorical Data: For at least two categorical variables: 1. Use a frequency distribution and a graph (pie chart or bar chart) to describe your data. Other details: A. Collect data with a minimum sample size of 40. B. Turn in all data in whatever form you collected it. C. Project must be typed. Names of all group members must be on the submitted project. D. Graphs may be drawn by hand or created using computers. Make sure they are clearly labeled, and as neat as possible and then uploaded and pasted into the document. E. Part 1 is due Monday, October 19Step by Step Solution
