Visual Analytics Term Project

Visual analytics is the practice of using visualizations to analyze data. For the project, students would work in a group of three to four members, and create a single$-$frame visualization or multi$-$frame data story that will be shared on Tableau Online.

You will find a database$($s$)$ online, discover the stories within the data, analyze the data, and design a data visualization to tell your data's story keeping in mind the principles you have learned throughout the semester.

Key dates for the following components of a comprehensive Term Project are as follows:

This activity will allow students to apply relevant concepts to a situation or phenomenon, analyze ideas and concepts and consider relationships among them, evaluate a decision, perspective or a particular way of doing something, and create new ideas or perspectives given a particular topic or issue.

There are five stages for the term project:

Draft a project proposal: identify the goals for the project including the questions you wish to answer. Your proposal will include a specific business case, any intended outcomes, a description of the dataset to be used, and any foreseeable challenges. Finally yet importantly a project plan $($who is doing what by when$).$ Must be approved by the instructor.

Formatting and Style:

The suggested length of the project proposal is $1-2$ pages and it must be in PDF format. Please refer to the term project proposal template $($Appendix A$)$ for details.

Deliverables:

Submit the proposal to the Moodle drop box by the due date.

Curate data: prepare the data set that provides the information you are seeking, then import that data into Tableau and ready for analysis.
