Watched The Social Dilemma documentary. Attached Facebook's Response,"What The Social Dilemma Gets Wrong."
This is a course on media law and ethics, what ethical concerns do you think need to be addressed with the development of this technology. One of the presenters in the documentary is Tristan Harris, a design ethicist. He has also developed the Center for Humane Technology and I posted the link to Week 9. There is also a medical doctor whose specialty is addiction medicine who also has concerns.
For your essay, analyze both "sides" and then w rite 2-3 pages about your position on the issue. What ethical issues do you see? What suggestions do you have to address the concerns voiced by the Social Dilemma? For example, do you agree with Jaron Lanier that we should delete all our social media accounts? Or short of deleting social accounts, what other suggestions do you have? What law(s) might you suggest to address the concerns of these engineers, CEOs, designers, ethicists and corporate leaders in the social media industry? What ethical issues arise from any of these suggestions?
