WATER ENGINEERING II WTE PROJECT BRIEF
Civil Engineering Department
The water cycle is a process by which water circulates the planet's atmosphere and helps in
making life possible on earth. However, the climate change is disrupting the water cycle, and the
water is becoming a scarce resource. The need to treat polluted water is increasing drastically.
The process of treating water requires a lot of energy and leads to greenhouse gas emissions.
Research and report back on:
How can the process of treating water influence climate change?
Which technologies can be applied to reduce greenhouse gas emissions released during
the water treatment process? Demonstrate the benefits and limitations of this technology
to society
How does the engineering activity of treating water impact the physical environment, public
health and safety?
How can the negative impacts on the physical environment, public health and safety
associated with the water treating activity be minimised or mitigated?
