We are working on a new project focused on entry capsule aerodynamics for autonomous spacecraft landings on Mars and Earth re-entry. The main phase of the Entry Descent and Landing we are prioritizing is final deceleration in Mars, concerned with capsule stability and oscillations that might couple with the large subsonic parachute breathing phenomena, but our group also wants to expand the learning's for future Earth return missions operations, similar to Orion. Our team's tasks will include everything related to ground testing, including the design of experiments and measurement techniques, as well the evaluation of the aerodynamic performance of different capsules. Before committing to expensive modeling and experimental test-campaigns, the company we are working for wants to be sure that we can succeed, this is, that we have the capabilities and the know-how to evaluate the aerodynamic performance of capsule models in our wind tunnels. At this initial stage our team needs to conceptualize the problem, design the experiments and propose an operational plan to the company CEO
