We have a microscope available at this location. It is utilized to provide extremely zoomed in images for evaluation. This particular microscope has the capability to provide 40x, 100x, 400x, and 1000x times magnification. To use this device, you must first ensure that the lenses are clean. You can then turn on the light to your preference, and place the microscope slide onto the stage. You can then start on the lowest magnification and work your way up to whichever lenses you would like to utilize, then place your eyes onto the eyepiece. You can then turn the coarse and fine focus as needed to find and sharpen your image. This is used to diagnose many different disease processes and parasitic infections, and can be used with many different sample types, including feces, skin, blood, and many many other things. The microscope should be cleaned after each use, making sure the stage and objective lenses are clean. To clean the microscope, you must first turn the light off, then utilize a lens wipe or kim wipe to clean any immersion oil or other debris from the lense and stage. Quality controls and maintenance are done by ensuring that each lense is providing sharp images with no areas of consistent fuzziness or dark spots. Each lense can be removed from the scope and cleaned thoroughly, as well as the eyepiece itself. Cleaning with forced air or cotton tip applicators can be utilized to get places that we cannot reach manually. The microscope should be covered when not in use to avoid unnecessary dust collection
