Project Objective To propose facility layout redesign for efficiency improvement, safety, quality, and cost reduction. Facility layout redesign should be done for a manufacturer, service provider, hospital, etc by thoroughly implementing a group of industrial engineering principles and techniques. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO USE CONCEPTS FROM THIS COURSE AS WELL AS OTHER COURCES (SUCH AS SIMULATION ECONOMIC ANALYSIS, OR PRODUCTION AND INVENTORY PLANNING ETC) TO COMPLETE PROCESS SUCCESSFULLY Objectives 1. Identify process steps, process flow, and material flow of facility. 2. Identify potential failure modes, problems, inefficiencies, and areas of improvement that can be solved via facility layout 3. Decide which areas of improvement you will focus on using a decision support tool (example Pareto analysis) 4. Achieve high efficiency and maximum utilization of people equipment - space - energy 3. Achieve employee convenience - safety - comfort 4. Maintain quality 5. Define improvement metrics and measure that can be used to assess if cost reduction, efficiency, safety, and proposed improvement are worthwhile 6. Estimate improvement metrics and measure using analytical or simulation tools
