Question:
Webster University would like to automate some of their paper forms/processes. The manual Program Planning Worksheet currently used by Webster advisors and students to identify the courses required to meet their degree requirements is at this link:

Webster would like for a student's program plan data to be entered using an on-line input form and stored in a database. Then, a program plan report similar to the manual worksheet (at the above link) could be printed, as required. Review the following prototype design for an automated Program Plan input form and database.
a.
List the form and database design problems with this design.
The program planning worksheet should not include the full social security number, only the student ID number only because these forms could be handle by anyone such as student interns and you don’t want everyone to have access to this data. The database needs to be more user friendly. Many of the tabs have the same information listed below such as SSN, below I have developed how I believe the database design should look.
b.
Develop an improved input form and database design for a Webster student to enter/store Program Plandata. You do not have to design the report. I believe that the login in page should ask for a student ID and password; once logged in the next screen should be a self-help screen with the following tabs (Student Administrative Data, Register (with the following tabs (add and drop)), Degree Works (where it automatically populates the degree plan that the student is working on and highlight the classes that are in progress or have been previously completed, Transcripts tab where it displays each semester GPA and overall GPA; also a forms tab where it
allows the student to print out manual forms such as petitions for graduation, grade replacement, withdrawal and ect
