Welcome to ACC $318!$ As you explore the accounting field throughout this course, keep in mind that everyone has various background knowledge about and experience with accounting. This discussion post gives everyone the chance to share unique perspectives and to learn from others.$$

In this discussion, you will research a specialized area of accounting that interests you. For example, you might be interested in forensic accounting, auditing, or tax accounting. For other examples of accounting specializations, be sure to review the required resources for this module. You can also find information about specializations using Shapiro Library resources. For this discussion, find a recent news article or resource $($published within the last five years$)$ that describes a specific accounting area. To search for resources on the Shapiro Library website, use the following steps:$$

Use the Multi$-$Search field to combine key words. For example, bonds and debts, or forensics accounting.$$

Use the Refine Results feature to limit the search to news articles from the past five years.

Review the search results to find a resource that piques your interest.$$

In your initial post, introduce yourself and address the following:$$

Summarize an article about a specific field of accounting that interests you. Include the citation in your response.

Explain why you are interested in the specialization.

Explain any foreseen challenges you see to entering this specialized field of accounting. $($e$.$g$.,$ artificial intelligence evolving to replace humans' work, the field narrowing because of automation taking over, events impacting the field$).$
