Nurse educators have opportunities to provide health maintenance tools to the public by being involved in the community through such programs offered by the CDC. For example, the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program offers a workshop that is held over six weeks and covers self-improvement and confidence building classes for the community to promote optimum health (CDC, 2018). Some workshops are geared towards a specific chronic condition, while others have a broad base of patient populations. Nurse educators can be used in the workshops and provide healthcare information on understanding their disease, medication management and compliance, recommended therapies, and healthy lifestyle choices. Chronic conditions like diabetes are commonly mis managed and misunderstood, providing education on proper diet, glucose monitoring, exercise, and medication management can be detrimental in preventing premature death and further health complications. Nurse educators can hold community classes, health fairs, handout pamphlets, and even use Tele health services to reach the chronic disease population
