Abstract The palm oil industry is crucial to the Malaysian economy, but it has been criticized for its negative environmental and social impact. As a result, many palm oil companies have sought to obtain sustainable certification to improve their image and access to international markets. However, acquiring these certifications can be a challenging process, requiring significant changes to plantation organization management. Digital transformation has been identified as a potential solution to address these challenges, but there is limited research on the moderating effect of employee digital literacy on the effectiveness of this approach. This research aims to investigate the impact of digital transformation on improving palm oil plantation organization management efficiency in acquiring palm oil sustainable certifications in Malaysia, and the moderating effect of employee digital literacy. The research will adopt a mixed-methods approach, consisting of a survey of plantation managers and employees, interviews with industry experts and certification bodies, and case studies of palm oil plantations that have adopted digital transformation. The research will be guided by the Resource- Based View (RBV) theory of the firm. Data analysis will be conducted using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The expected outcomes of the research are the identification of key factors that affect the adoption of digital transformation in palm oil plantation organization management, the evaluation of the effectiveness of digital transformation in improving certification acquisition, and the determination of the moderating effect of employee digital literacy on this effectiveness. The findings of this research will contribute to the development of strategies to improve the sustainability of the palm oil industry in Malaysia and potentially other countries with similar industries
