Changing the text sizes and the color is going to be easier using slide master. I am just learning this feature in the past, and I would do it the hard way.

Putting background images is great with slide master to know you're gonna have consistency and can change whenever.

When you are adding a new slide depending on what kind of information content and if it needs a placeholder.
