Question:
What can I improve with this policy?
The objectives of this policy are to:
achieve a safe workplace with zero harm to the environment;
ensure a permanent Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) presence in project planning and work activities;
involve workers in the decision-making process through regular communication and consultation;
ensure workers identify and control risks, impacts and aspects in the workplace, so far as is reasonably practicable;
monitor and review the elimination or control of potential risks, as far as reasonably practicable; and
enhance workers' EHS knowledge through a program of education and training.
The success of our EHS management depends on:
the commitment of all workers and stakeholders to achieving our objectives;
effectively planning work activities;
undertaking risk management processes in an effective manner; and
communication and consultation between our workers and stakeholders.
To achieve this, we will be committed to:
demonstrating visible and active leadership at all levels of the organisation;
ensuring we have EHS systems, procedures, and training in place and a framework for our objectives;
empowering our workers to take control of their own safety and wellbeing;
eliminating hazards and harm, and reducing EHS risks and impacts;
promoting a proactive and systematic risk-based approach to the continuous improvement of EHS including psychological health and safety;
complying with and encouraging awareness of relevant legislation and our EHS management systems, and fulfilling legal and other requirements;
maintaining an inclusive culture where all workers demonstrate a genuine commitment to EHS;
supporting psychological wellbeing via our Employee Assistance Program and other initiatives;
fostering effective consultation and participation of workers and stakeholders,
seeking to continuously improve our EHS and system performance through regular monitoring and senior management review; and
distributing and communicating WHS information to relevant workers and stakeholders
