What can schools do? More specifically, why is it important for schools to provide more unstructured playtime? I believe that this helps promote cognitive development as well as physical development. It will allow children to learn and grow through their own experiences. Through some research shown Rebecca Clay said it helps kids build resilience, flex their creative muscles, and engage organically with their peers (Clay, 2003). There was also research done that as shown it is fundamentally necessary for children to thrive physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially through play that is not organized by adults. Others have also said that it helps relieve stress and help them with their emotional security. Sending kids outside is important, I worked for a preschool in the past and my boss was very big on getting the kids outside all the time. We even had fun in the rain, and this made the kids so happy and had fun exploring on their own in the mud and water, we even had a mud kitchen where the kids got to experience whatever they chose to do. We had so many outdoor activities and to this day the parents have always said we were the best
