Imagine that it is one year later and Gourmet Bean Australia has expanded into Canberra market as planned

You are the Operations manager and you are responsible for a number of staff who travel regularly between Head Office in Brisbane and Canberra as part of their role. A number of staff have also travelled internationally for conferences and to source raw materials. It has come to your attention recently that staff members have been accruing frequent flyer points from business travel and using these points for their own personal travel. You are unsure if this is allowed or not and so decide to investigate the situation.

You submit your research to the CEO about the policy that various organizations are using in regards to the frequent flyer points.

Assume that the CEO has decided that all frequent flyer points earned on business travel are owned by the company and must be redeemed only by the company, and not by individuals for personal use.

The CEO has asked you to update the Code of Ethics and communicate the decision with staff.

1.Update the Code of Ethics with this direction. Ensure you use similar language used in the existing Code of Ethics and that your additions are written clearly and concisely and free from errors.

2.Prepare a formal memo that will be sent to staff with an outline of the company's expectations on this issue and clear directions for staff with regard to the use of frequent flyer points.

The objective of this communication is not only to set the expectations but to influence the staff to act in an ethical way, and to build trust and confidence in management. Your communication does need to be written in a clear and concise language suitable for this audience, and you will need to make use of influential language to achieve the objective.
