$$Interoperability is defined as the system$$s ability to interact with other existing or legacy systems. This area addresses the need of the new hiring system to be compatible with the existing IT architecture and other system on the network.

Compatibility was mentioned by the CIO and the director of HR during the interviews with leadership that was done at the beginning of the project. To ensure that the new solution meets MTC$$s performance requirement for compatibility this functional requirement must be included as part of the requirement statements at the time of development.

There are many benefits to Interoperability. Research has shown that interoperability is linked to modularization of systems that allow for sharing with other systems, increased competition, enhanced autonomy, and facilitates access to information $($Hodapp$,2022).$ These reasons combined with leadership$$s request for compatibility with existing systems are justification for inclusion for interop Interoperability in the system performance requirements.$$
