What involvement does the FAA have with a private aviation business? Do they have any governance over how a private aviation company wishes to perform business? For this example, you are looking into opening a small aviation maintenance shop where the mainstay of the business is performing maintenance and inspections on private owner aircraft operating under FAA Part 91, that are NOT used for hire (no flight instruction, no unscheduled air carrier/charter or scheduled air carrier operations.) You are only a maintenance shop, there is a flight school nearby so you decided to focus just on maintenance. You have a handful of technicians who all have their FAA A&P certifications with one also having their Inspection Authorization. Using the Federal Aviation Regulations (Officially the Code of Federal Regulations Title 14) investigate what type of oversight the FAA requires and to what level they will be involved with your maintenance business.
