What is a flash chamber and how does it work? I am designing a glycerol steam reformation plant, and among the things recommended to me is a flash chamber instead of a heat exchanger for cooling. The gases to be cooled are a mixture of H2, CO2 and H2O steam at 350c and 1atm. The goal is to condense the H2O into water to be drained, leaving the gas phase to go on to other separations. How does a flash chamber work, what are the working equations, what should I set my final temperature to be, and can I assume it removes all of the condensed steam (if not, what fraction can I assume is condensed?).
