What is a Real-World Application?

Discussion Prompt:

How do lists, sets, and dictionaries occur in the real world? Lets take some time to discuss how what we have learned in this module is represented in our everyday lives. Try to separate yourself from the actual programmatic code and look for the high-level concepts in your day to day life or in your discipline. Please write a response on how data structures are represented in a real-world setting. Feel free to use industry-specific examples and be creative.

Context/Purpose:

We use computers in almost all aspects of our lives from dating, going to school, reading the news, ordering food, playing games, trading stocks and so much more. Almost all the activities that the computer has an effect on, existed long before programming existed. It was not until someone was able to connect the concepts of programming to their daily activities that they were able to automate or expedite the activity with a computer. We will use this discussion to create connections between what we are learning in the classroom with our everyday lives. So that one day we may develop new more effective ways to perform activities in our respective subject areas.
