What is counterintelligence?

A$.$ Information that can be used to distinguish or prove an individual's identity, either alone or when combined with other information that is linkable to a specific individual.

B$.$ The threat that an insider will use his$/$her authorized access, wittingly or unwittingly, to do harm to the security of the United States.

C$.$ Activities that are designed to identify, stop and$/$or disrupt espionage $($spying$),$ intelligence gathering, or sabotage $($damage or disruption$)$ conducted by or on behalf of foreign governments, organizations, or persons.
