Introduction: - It is my dream to work in Walmart as a department manager. So, I did my research paper on Walmart. I did my two parts that is organization profile and literature review on Walmart. So, it is third part that is about supply chain at Walmart. As we know supply chain is very important to run any company, Walmart is very big retailer store in all departments. Then supply chain is important factor to make Walmart as a best and successful company. Supply chain at Walmart: - As we know Walmart is second biggest retailer store after amazon with more than 11,000 stores in 27 countries. So, their supply chain management is also very strong. Their main suppliers are from U.S., china, Canada, etc. but from all these there are 5 big supplier companies that are contributing to their revenue. These are plug power inc., funai electric co., CCA industries inc., green dot corporation and primo water corporation Supply chain system at Walmart: - Every store has different supply chain system. Some stores manufacture their products at their company. They just buy raw material. But Walmart has a different supply chain system. They have mainly three parts of their supply chain that is manufacturing, distributers, final step in Walmart retailers. Manufacturing: - there are so many manufacturing companies. That companies produces the products. From that companies Walmart always purchase their stock. They have final deals for products. Manufactures are most important in their supply chain. Because if they produce things then Walmart can purchase the products and reach to their customers. For example, in electronic department, we can find products of Samsung and Microsoft. It means Samsung and Microsoft are the manufactures. They simply send their products to second stage in distribution centers. Wal-Mart's Supply Chain Flow Chart Marcus Manufacturer Distribution centers: - once I work at Walmart distribution centers and I find that their manufactures always send their products at distribution centers. From that centers their employees always try to meet the requirements of stores. And they just sort all products and load in trucks and send directly to stores. Every manufacturing company send their product to distribution centers. And there are different departments for sort list like health and beauty, electronics, clothing, grocery etc. in GTA, they have total 3 distribution centers. These centers are using technology for loading. Walmart retailer store: - at the end, distribution center sends their products to Walmart store. Where customers can get all the products. Their employees always fill the shelves according to requirements and departments. This is the final step of supply chain. Walmart sells their products from Walmart stores. They sell products in store and online. Their e-commerce department always handle the online purchasing. Operating supply chain at Walmart: - There is always a question that how Walmart knows the needs of products, supply, demand etc. there is always inventory and forecasting management that recognize the demand of customers and get supply of products at stores. It is very important factor for successful supply chain. Because any store can be run successfully if store knows about demand of goods and can get supply according to demand. Conclusion: - as we can see, Walmart is doing great job in supply chain. We know Walmart is very big company. So, supply chain management is very important and difficult. But they are following very simple and successful supply chain. And they are introducing new technology in their stores and distribution centers that is making their system very easy and advanced. Their teams are working very hard to compete their competitors in market
