What is YOUR Project's Net Present Value? Review Let's apply project analysis to something real in your life. Maybe you want to look at the cost/benefit of graduate school. Maybe you're considering an investment property. Maybe you want to look at your current undergraduate program's estimated value in terms of NPV, using relevant costs and estimated earnings differentials. Pick a real application for yourself and build a spreadsheet that can be shared to show your estimations and calculations. Hopefully, this will lead you to investigate relevant pieces of information that you may not have considered before embarking on a large and risky project. But I'm guessing that you'll find that you are in the middle of a few right now! Initial Post Requirements Provide a spreadsheet with the basic elements of a project that can be evaluated with discounted cash flows. Provide a short description of your: Initial cash outflow (current costs) Cash flows, or cash flow differentials (incremental cash flows) Discount rate (and why) Life of the project Calculation of the IRR of the project and the NPV Conclusion based on the results Responding to Your Peers To receive full credit for this discussion, you are required to respond to at least one of your peers. Examine the opposite position. For example, if they posted a positive benefit, try to counter with a potential challenge. Those responses should show thoughtful reflection and critical thinking.
