what needs to be changed so far: The objective of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of two seventh-grade classes, one from Galena School and the other from Potts Camp Middle School, using a t-test. Each class comprising 25 students was selected based on their balanced size to ensure a fair comparison. The variable of interest is the students' Spring ELA ELS Benchmark Assessment scores, collected the week before Spring Break. This comparison will provide insights into the academic performance of the two classes and potentially reveal any significant differences in their educational outcomes. The t-test was conducted assuming equal variances (see Table), as the doubled variance of 145.17 exceeded 250.08. The mean scores for the Galena and Potts Camp classes were 78.60 and 70.80, respectively. The t-statistic was calculated to be 1.96, less than the critical t-value of 2.01 for a two-tailed test with 48 degrees of freedom. The p-value for the test was .060, greater than the significance level of .050. Therefore, the t-test results indicate no statistically significant difference in the Spring ELA ELS Benchmark Assessment scores between the two seventh-grade classes from Galena School and Potts Camp Middle School.
