What new information would complicate the answer in the initial post? What would change the dynamics of this problem?
This week, I chose to paint an accent wall in my bedroom. This fits me as I have painted many accent walls over the years and yet have never taken any measurements to complete the project.Maybe in the future, I will save money by using a formula.
My bedroom wall is 17 ft long and 9 ft high.In the area of the wall, I have two windows that measure 5 ft high and 3 ft wide. When I researched how much 1 gallon of paint will cover, I found that it will cover 400 sq ft.The total area of the accent wall using the A=L x W formula comes out to 185 sq ft.Using the same formula on my windows comes out to 15 sq ft each. When I subtract the 2 windows from the total area of the wall needing paint, the area comes out to 105 sq ft.A whole gallon will be too much and so I would only need to purchase 2 pints of paint that can cover 50 sq ft each.I realize that this leaves me with another 5 sq ft to cover, however, my solution is to stretch out the paint to get the required 105 sq ft.We all know that we stretch the paint when painting, no judging, please.
