To whom this may concern,

My name is Destiny Cruz. I am reaching out today to extend the knowledge about a project that I am currently apart of and feel like you will be interested in. The project is called the Sentencing Project and it was created to reduce mass incarceration and potential reduce the number of reoffending criminals. This project is extremely useful, not only for the inmates but the law enforcement officers who work day after day to ensure the jails and prisons are being run as smoothly as possible. By creating this program, it is reconnected the community and the corrections system again, giving everyone the opportunity to pay for their crimes but also create connections in the community to ensure they do not reoffend when the inmate is done serving their sentence. I believe that by funding the sentencing project will give everyone the opportunity to serve their sentence but also create a better life for themselves after being released from jail/prison. The second chance act grant program will be the best opportunity to continuing the sentencing program and potential help extend the program to more correctional facilities.

Thank you for taking the time reading my proposal. I look forward to speaking to you soon!

With much respect,

Destiny Cruz

I choose to write about the sentencing program because they are many people who get lost in the system at such a young age and do not have the proper resources to help them beat the odds placed against them. There are many cases where an inmate is released with no where to go and no employment set in place and end up reoffending and being put back into jail/ prison. It feel like it is important to give everyone the opportunity to have somewhere to go and a job to help them stay out of trouble with the law. This form of communication is important because it is a formal way to get a point across with also being able to attach actual facts with the letter. The data that goes along with the letter should be added to the letter.
