Deferred revenue is important because it is the money a company collects before it actually delivers a product this being the reason that revenues are not normally increased by the total ending balance. There are many circumstances that require deferred revenues of governmental funds to be reduced or eliminated to derive the governmental-wide information. With knowing this; provide an example related to a Criminal Justice agency of why they would receive deferred revenue.
