After watching the videos and reading the other materials from the A\&O Life Fund and Stanford Financial Group case studies what did you learn about white collar crimes that are hidden at first sight? Share an example of a white-collar crime you have heard of, experienced, had a friend/family member been a victim of or have been a potential victim. Provides one response to at least two other students' posts. After viewing the A\&O Life Fund and Stanford Financial Group videos, I noticed a recurring theme from the culprits and their victims. The swindlers were charming and great at creating a faade to placate their victims who by all appearances, wanted something bigger than themselves to believe in and invest in. I saw a documentary on Prime recently that talked about the LulaRoe pyramid scheme (LulaRich). The founders of the company sourced the main concept was for their employees to recruit sales associates to build their territory to manage and collect a commission from sales generated under their leadership. The main problem with this structure is you eventually run out of people to sell your wares to, since everyone is already joined in the pyramid to sell and/or has a contact to purchase their wares through. White collar crimes although non-violent are some of the most committed crimes. I have learned from the videos that white collar crimes can also include advertisement. I know of some older people that have been called and been scammed out of money by people pretending that they are their grandkids and in need of help. The professor had a good point about how we glorify those who can hack into computers. I think this also goes into play with people who hack credit cards from people when they get gas. This lesson makes me feel like I should trust no one
