What would students learn from the following: Students will be able to examine the history and purpose of healthcare statistics, including the basic mathematical principles of ratios, proportions, rates, and percentages used to calculate those statistics. 8.2 Students will be able to calculate patient census, inpatient bed occupancy, and length of stay statistics. 8.3 Students will be able to calculate mortality and autopsy statistics. 8.4 Students will be able to calculate morbidity and other miscellaneous vital or healthcare statistics. 8.5 Students will be able to examine frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, and inferential statistics, producing graphs and tables. 8.6 Students will be able to distinguish between clinical indices, databases, and registries, including how data is acquired, used, and reported. 8.7 Students will be able to calculate statistics computed within a health information management department. 8.8 Students will be able to investigate healthcare research methodologies and Institutional Review Board requirements, demonstrating mastery of data collection, display, and analysis
