When conducting both basic research or applied research on a study, both outcomes are going to be valuable. The idea of choosing whether to go with the basic method or the applied method depends on many variables such as the researcher and mainly the intended topic of the research. It has been known that basic research is chosen for the purpose of acquiring more knowledge regarding a topic in which it can be only shared as a piece of information. Whereas, applied research touches the real-life situations where I can as a scholar work toward finding a problem within the field I specialize in and check the process of how to solve this issue. Such a method not only provides knowledge but also meaningful information for others in the same field where they can apply your study to their similar problem. "Pragmatic and applied degrees require scientific research with an outcome that moves the field of study ahead, perhaps developing new models for behavior or designs that will be implemented later." (Herr & Anderson, 2005, ChapterTwo).

After going through my reading for this week, I found that the applied method would be the most suitable one for my study as the topic I intend to about is within my field and requires more development and evaluation in order to have better outcomes than current ones.It is essential for me to conduct research on a study when I am going to apply my outcomes of the study into the actual problem within my field and therefore using the applied method is appropriate for me.
